Most of the best reports of UFO's come from Pilots. Professor Richard Haines has documented over 3000 daylight sightings and encounters with UFO's Pilots are uniquely qualified to identify aerial phenomenon. Hat tip to Real UFO's for posting an excellent video on how the government is already prepared it's forces to deal with UFO events. In fact, it makes perfect sense that the fire department should be the department to draw up such a document. Fire departments are often first on the scene in all major disasters and rescue efforts - the type which may come about in a UFO landing - or crash for that matter. Jacque Vallee - French Scientist and important figure in the study of UFO's

Jacque Vallee is a French-born computer scientist, author, ufologist and former astronomer. He is well known in the study of unidentified flying objects and was a proponent of the extraterrestrial hypothesis and later the Interdimensional hypothesis. In the Steven Spielberg film Close Encounters of the Third Kind Vallée served as the model for the French researcher character, Lacombe.

Holographic Images as a weapon

I have just watched this interesting video on Holographic Imagery. The suggestion is that the US government is experimenting with holographic images for military and physco-military purposes. Apparently, images and even sound can be generated and cause people to see and hear things that don't really exist.  The suggestion is that this could be a source of some UFO related incidents, such as the Phoenix lights and other mass sightings. Although this sounds plausible and perhaps even scientifically probable - It surely cannot be the basis of all UFO and paranormal events. It does sound as if this could have some serious military use and could be used to overpower and mislead an enemy, I find it hard to take that a step further to say that all paranormal events are to be explained this way. In any case - it's worth looking at these clips and to realize that these things are possible and  there is reason for caution.

Stephen Michalak's Close Encounter

Here is the story about an alledged close encounter near Falcon Lake in Canada. Stephen Michalak an amateur rock collector, claims he saw a UFO land and was then burned by it upon it's takeoff. Needles California UFO Sighting and Crash in May 2008

A strange blue flaming object shot across the river near needles California and crashed near the bank in May 2008. 17 minutes later military helicopters arrived to scoop the glowing object away. Unsuspecting 'Bob on the River' witnessed the whole scenario and called into the local radio station to find out what was going on. This caused a sensation in the town and the UFO community, including visits by unknown agents in dark cars asking people questions, increasing the public 'hysteria' over the incident. George Knapp a veteran UFO researcher working with the i-team does a great expose on this incident and finds out about a secret high security detail driving unmarked trucks through the town.... Although it seems like this could have been a UFO, there is always a possibility that this was a secret project that crashed or a military satellite that re-entered the atmosphere. I'm still not convinced that this is anything alien.

The Hessdalen Lights and similar Unidentified Aeriel Phenomenon

Hessdalen is a small valley in the central part of Norway. Between 1981 and 1984, residents of the Valley became concerned and alarmed about strange, unexplained lights that appeared at many locations throughout the Valley. Hundreds of lights were observed. At the peak of this activity there were about 20 reports a week. No official institute with governmental support in Norway seems to be interested in these strange lights. Five individual researchers began their own research project in 1983 called Project Hessdalen. A field investigation was carried out between January and February 1984. 53 light observations were made during the field investigations. Lights are still being observed in the Hessdalen Valley, but their frequency has decreased to about 20 observations a year. An automatic measurement station was put up in Hessdalen in August 1998. According to Wikipedia the "Hessdalen Lights" are unexplained lights (a type of Will-o'-the-wisp ) usually seen in the valley of Hessdalen, Norway. These lights are well known and have been recorded and studied by physicists. One explanation attributes the phenomenon to an incompletely understood combustion process in the air involving clouds of dust from the valley floor containing scandium. Some sightings, though, have been identified as misperceptions of astronomical bodies, aircraft, car headlights, and mirages. However, many classify these lights as UFO's and they show very similar characteristics to UFO's seen around the world. UFO over Pretoria / South Africa 1996

Interesting news report from South Africa. This UFO was filmed by a policemen on duty in Pretoria South Africa and was also chased by a police helicopter. It seems that something unexplainable was seen. Was is a UFO or simply a balloon or advertising blimp? It would seem from the testimony of the helicopter pilot that there was something strange and unexplained. I'm not convinced it was a UFO - but there is merit to this case because of the multiple witnesses. Its a pity that radar and other evidence was not evaluated.

On a personal note - I was in Johannesburg South Africa in 1987 and was awoken in the early hours of the morning by a deafening explosion, which sounded like it had gone off outside our window. The window almost shattered from the blast. On investigation nothing was found and we woke up to the news that this noise had been heard all over the city. It could have been a meteorite I suppose. I have always wondered what that was - no explanation was ever given.

The UFO Conspiracy Explained

2) Phoenix, Arizona, March of 1997. Hundreds of different kinds of people witnessed a humungous triangular craft that moved incredibly slow over the entire city.

3) St. Clair County, Illinois, January of the year 2000. Police officers in 5 connected towns all report witnessing a very large craft with multiple lights that were extremely bright and moved silently across the sky at an extremely low altitude.

The Anatomy of a MUFON investigation

Tag along as MUFON investigates the intriguing case of The Fayetteville Incident. This show was aired on Discovery during 2008 as part of their UFOs Over Earth series. In this show how the MUFON investigators check out what some may believe is a 'tall tale' from a gentleman in Fayetteville. It turns out that it isn't such a tall tale, and there is some interesting evidence. At the end of the investigation, it doesn't turn out quite like you may expect. This documentary shows how difficult it can be to investigate and prove beyond doubt UFO sightings and close encounters. One gets a close up view of the professional work done by MUFON.

By the way - I personally do believe his story, but being a scientist - I have to express some doubt. There is no rock solid evidence, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. There are parts of the story that have similarities to other sightings, but there is no genuine corroborating evidence. How frustrating this must have been to the folks at MUFON. So close but so far - this case shows the problems in investigating these stories. It does seem that if there are entities and UFO craft, they make sure hide and leave minimal evidence. That is certainly part of the mystery.

Ted Phillips - Another great Scientist

I posted a previous item about Dr. Ted Phillips called Ted Phillips - Another great Scientist and wish to add some more information on this scientist, because of his great contribution to the science of UFO's. At one time the Center for UFO studies was receiving a case every 19 hours from all around the world!!! Ted gets my Vote!

Ted Phillips was one of the people involved with project Bluebook, and one of the main researchers involved in physical trace research of UFO landing sites. He is currently the Director of The Center for Physical Trace Research (CPTR). The Special Investigations Unit of the CPTR investigates active UFO sites. The team posts investigative logs along with images and video obtained during site visits in the field. Here is the LINK to his website

He began investigating UFO reports in 1964 and was a research associate of Dr. J. Allen Hyneks from 1968 until Dr. Hyneks death in 1986. It was at Allen Hyneks suggestion that he began specializing in physical trace research of UFO sightings forty years ago. Phillips has personally investigated hundreds of UFO cases and his files contain 3,189 physical landing traces from 91 countries.

The teams primary purpose is to insert itself into an area of developing activity while the site is still fresh. The SIU has five highly qualified researchers and has the only dive team in the U.S. geared toward the investigation of USOs and similar anomalies.

Ted Phillips, is an engineer, as well as a professional photographer and musician. He participated in the Vanguard Satellite Tracking Program and was a field engineer on the Minuteman Missile Project.

Phillips participated in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Aerospace Sciences meetings, along with Dr. Hynek, Jacque Vallee and Dr. David Saunders.

He was a member of a select team invited to meet with the United Nations secretary-General at the U.N., along with Dr. Hynek, Dr. Vallee and astronaut Gordon Cooper.

He has appeared on national television in numerous documentaries including In Search Of, NBC News White Papers, CBS News Special reports and the documentary movie, UFOs Are Real. Most recently, he was featured in Alien Encounters, a documentary on the History Channel.

Phillips current research projects include active UFO sites in the central U.S. and a major project in the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia. He will be briefing us on his latest research and some of his most fascinating previous cases.

The third instalment of UFO files, transferred by the the Ministry of Defence, covers the period from 1987 to 1993. One of the more unusual cases recounts the experience of an unidentified female who phoned RAF Wattisham in Norfolk in November 1989: 'She reported she was approached by a man who claimed to come from another planet, similar to earth. During the ten minute conversation, the man claimed his race was responsible for creating crop circles. What's more, he felt it was important for contact between the two peoples to occur. As she ran home, the woman heard a loud buzzing noise behind her, and turned to see a large, glowing spherical object rise steadily until out of sight'. There was apparently a near miss between a UFO and a plane flying into Manchester and this has been made public in the latest release by the MOD. The previously top secret papers include sketches of objects spotted in the skies.
